(WTAQ-WLUK) — The Wisconsin State Patrol is using a recent traffic stop to remind motorists of the penalties that come with excessive speeding.
According to a Facebook post Monday, a trooper in Winnebago County recently pulled over a vehicle traveling 119 miles per hour in a 65 miles per hour zone.
WSP said the driver was operating with a probationary license and was not legally allowed to be driving between midnight and 5 a.m.
“Excessive speed can lead to expensive fines, a mandatory 15-day suspension, and increased insurance costs – or worse – injuring yourself or others in the event of a crash,” the post reads.
WSP ended the post with a simple, straight-to-the-point message: “#SlowDown.”
