GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Convenience has been key to the fan experience inside Lambeau Field this season.
Updates to the concourse is making it easier for fans to get their favorite eats on gameday.
With the tap of a few buttons, a swipe or scan of a card, and you’re on your way with your game time essentials inside Lambeau Field.
Additions to Lambeau Field’s upper concourse this season include 10 easy grab-and-go concession stands.
Overall, the Packers say they’ve been widely well-received by fans.
“We’re trying to get them through the stands faster, and get them back to their seats so they can cheer on the Packers to a victory,” said Scott Thompson, Packers Assistant Director of Business Analytics & Food & Beverage.
Fans FOX 11 spoke with say they’ve noticed the improvements.
“Usually the lines are 10 to 15 minutes long and, five minutes through here,” said Aaron Polley, a Packers fan from Cincinnati.
And the food was on fresh, and the drinks you can just get I thought that was very convenient,” added Caroline Polley.
Even fans, taking in a game for the first time at Lambeau Field, are happy with the experience.
“I was a little worried when my dad sent me to get down to get all the food but it was really fast, fairly easy,” said Angie Busick, from Paoli, Indiana.
“Just grab your cheese curds and go baby, you know, classic Wisconsin,” said Jakob Yoshino of Watertown.
“It’s been amazing to be honest, being here my first time, having to get a lot of food,” said Christine Kitaru, a Packers fan who is from Kenya. “It’s very easy, very accessible.”
The Packers say they have served roughly 10% more fans during their first several games at Lambeau Field compared to last year at this point.
In addition to the improved concession stands, upgrades include LED video boards to allow fans to watch the games from the concourse.
One component to the convenience is Lambeau Field being cash free, which began in 2020.
While some fans don’t like not being able to pay with cash, others don’t mind.
“I’m not a fan of cashless, but everybody is going to it so we’re used to it at this point,” said Busick.
“That’s fine with me, I don’t really carry cash anyways,” added Aaron Polley.
“We don’t really carry cash anymore so it worked for us,” said Christine Polley.
Packers officials know Lambeau Field’s atmosphere is like no other across the sports world.
They want to make sure die-hard cheeseheads continue to pack the bowl for years to come.
