Pablo Lopez dominated Houston hitters, picking up his second win of the postseason after striking out seven and allowing just six hits over seven scoreless innings.
Lopez said he had a good plan going into the game.
Carlos Correa paced Minnesota at the plate, going three-for-four with three RBI against his old squad. Kyle Farmer also homered in the win.
Yordan Alvarez went yard in the eighth for Houston, but Framber Valdez was charged with the loss after surrendering five runs on seven hits in four-and-a-third innings.
The best-of-five series shifts to Minnesota for Game Three on Tuesday.
Texas 11, Baltimore 8
At Baltimore, the Rangers have a commanding 2-0 lead in their ALDS against the Orioles after holding on for an 11-8 victory in Game Two at Camden Yards.
Cody Bradford was credited with the win after striking out four batters over three and two-thirds scoreless innings of relief.
Mitch Garver hit a grand slam during the third inning.
Rangers manager Bruce Bochy says their lineup is doing pretty well.
Grayson Rodriguez was charged with the loss after allowing five runs on six hits over an inning and two-thirds pitched.
Gunnar Henderson and Aaron Hicks each went deep for the Birds.
The best of five series will now shift to Arlington for Game Three when Texas hosts Baltimore Tuesday night.
National League
In NLDS action, the Arizona Diamondbacks visit the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Philadelphia Phillies visit the Atlanta Braves on Monday.
The D-Backs and Phillies lead their respective series 1-0.
