APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) — The Fall Semester started Monday at Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton; and the schools new transfer program is growing.
As of Monday, 129 students are enrolled in the program; only 20 of them were enrolled in the program’s first semester in Spring 2023. Students can pursue an Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS), and have all their credits transfer to UWO, UWGB, or Lakeland University. If the student wishes to persue a bachelors degree, they will transfer with Junior Standing.
“If you knew you wanted to go to a four-year institution and study psychology, you could get the first 60 credits here, and then move onto say UWO, and only have 60 credits left to complete your four-year degree,” said Dr. Jennifer Lanter, Vice President of Learning & Chief Academic Officer from FVTC.
The transfer program initially came to fruition after a study showed that 7% of students at FVTC transfer to a 4 year institution, and the school wanted to set up a degree program for those students that would also assist them financially.
Currently, FVTC is in talks with UW-Madison Online, UW-Stout, and UW-Platteville to add them to the program.
