GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Brown County Library East Branch will be closed for the next month as it prepares for its move next door.
The branch is moving to the former Titletown Fitness building, 2253 Main St. The 16,500-square-foot space will feature adult reading areas, a young adult area, a children’s area, meeting and study rooms, and a calming room. A new marketplace will feature a fireplace and a coffee nook. High-speed Wi-Fi, checkout stations, computers, and a business center will also be offered.
In preparation for the move, the library’s current location closed as of Monday. Those who pick up their holds at the East Branch are asked to pick up their holds at a different branch during the move. The book drop will remain open, but book donations will be accepted.
A grand opening ceremony at the new location is set for 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Sept. 16. The new location will officially open to patrons on Sept. 18. Storytime resumes on Sept. 19.
The $6.4 million project is being funded through Brown County’s half-percent sales tax. The library is looking to sell naming rights for $1.5 million to help cover costs. Smaller donations are being accepted as well. Visit the library’s website for more information.
