ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — It’s been just over three weeks since it was announced that the NFL Draft will come to Green Bay in 2025.
And although that’s still far away- talk of home rentals is already taking place.
The Parsons family has always used their lawn for parking, being just walking distance from Lambeau Field, but now they are considering renting their home for the draft.
“Bring in the extra dollar,” says Clint Parsons.
Parsons has not taken any steps yet with rental websites, but says he has already thought about how he’d prepare.
“Probably partition off certain rooms, lock maybe the garage and the downstairs off from access,” says Parsons.
He says he would want to know who will be in his home.
“Just to know the people that are renting it, do background checks, and make sure everything checks out safe,” says Parsons.
Other homeowners in the area feel that it’s not worth the money, and using their lawn on game days for parking is enough.
“Definitely not going to do that, don’t prefer to have people in my house. I already do this for game day and that’s plenty,” says James Boucher.
Boucher says although he is not- some of his neighbors are interested.
“They’ve thrown numbers out in the thousands that they can rent it out for, and they’re interested and thousands aren’t enough for me, it’s my house and I don’t want people in it,” says Boucher.
Nick Meisner of Discover Green Bay says it’s too early to say how many hotel rooms will be booked for NFL staff, players and media, but he says the hotels will definitely be busy.
“We obviously know demand for hotels is going to exceed the supply that we have here in Green Bay for the week leading up to the draft,” says Meisner.
Meisner says if you are looking to rent out your house make sure you do it early and correctly.
“You need to go through the correct channels, you need to make sure that you are registering with the municipality and the county needs to do inspections,” says Meisner.
Discover Green Bay has already been contacting possible venues for rental spaces.
“Our team has been working with properties and rental space and a bunch of our partners who we’ve reached out to, at this point we are working with them and the NFL to see where things will be placed,” says Meisner.
