Last Summer we talked about the world’s first floating dairy farm. Now we have talks of the world’s first floating chicken farm.
Here’s what you need to know:
- Where? Rotterdam.
- The farm will be about 37,670 sq ft
- House about 7,000 laying hens
- Three floors
- Bottom Floor – This floor will be used for growing vegetables with LED lights.
- Second Floor – Here they’ll have the factory floor where the packaging/processing will happen.
- Top Floor – The laying hens will all be up on the top floor of the farm.
- The farm is basically floating on a platform made of three pontoons.
- Solar panels cover the roof of the farm to help save on electricity.
- The farm will be constructed so that people can see inside when they visit.
There’s still no word on when they plan to start construction on the farm, but plans are in the works. Is this the future of agriculture?
