GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Bay Beach amusement park is adjusting to the coronavirus pandemic with a “soft opening.”
“This weekend we just wanted to limit the amount of people coming in to the park,” manager Jason Arnoldi said Sunday.
That limit was 500 people using wrist bands to track the number of people in the park.
Other measures include sanitizing rides after each use and closing down some of the park’s attractions, all to allow his staff to ensure best practices.
“It’s a whole new way of doing things for us so we wanted to really be able to take our time and kind of tweak things as we went along,” Arnoldi explained.
“They’ve been taking precautions disinfecting their stuff, they have the bumper cars and the slide closed because they can’t disinfect between customers,” Amanda Davis listed the changes she noticed walking around the park.
She and her family drove down from Marinette for the opening weekend.
The park will close for a few days to review how things went, but Arnoldi assures families like Davis’ can come back Friday, when Bay Beach officially reopens for the summer.
2,000 people will be allowed in the park starting Friday.
Wristbands will be given out each day at the park on a first come first serve basis.
You’ll need to make a $5 deposit, which you’ll get back when you turn in the wristband.
New visitors can then enter the park as people leave.
