Packers Confirm Trade Details as Jets Introduce Aaron Rodgers

GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — It’s finally official: Aaron Rodgers is a New York Jet.

The former Green Bay Packers quarterback was introduced Wednesday as a member of the New York Jets following a trade between the two teams. The Jets posted photos and video of Rodgers entering the team facility Wednesday morning on their social media accounts.

The Packers officially announced the trade just before the Jets’ 1 p.m. news conference.

The introduction comes a month and a half after Murphy said in a live interview during the WIAA girls state basketball tournament that the team had given Rodgers permission to speak with the Jets. Five days after that, Rodgers said on The Pat McAfee Show that it was his intention to play for New York.

Since then, fans have been hanging on every piece of information about negotiations between the Packers and Jets. Details of the trade compensation were reported on Monday, with the Packers reportedly sending Rodgers and their first- and fifth-round draft choices in 2023 to the Jets for New York’s first- and sixth-round choices, plus a possible first- or second-round pick in 2024.

Tuesday night, Rodgers posted a lengthy goodbye message to the fans and community on Instagram.

The Green Bay community has already shown signs of moving on from Rodgers. A mural featuring Rodgers was painted over this week, with the artist saying it was time for a change since Rodgers was no longer a Packer.

The Rodgers trade means the Packers’ starting quarterback will be Jordan Love. Team officials have expressed optimism that Love is ready for the challenge.
