FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A Fond du Lac man is in jail after a highspeed chase that began after the man allegedly threatened to kill someone.
The Fond du Lac Police Department says it responded to a report of a fight in the 100 block of Welsh Street at approximately 1:33 p.m. Friday.
Before police arrived, the 36-year-old man allegedly threatened to kill someone and then drove away.
Fond du Lac officers found the suspect’s vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop near W. Johnson Street and N. Main Street. However, as soon as police turned on their lights, the man drove away on W. Johnson Street.
Police say he continued to ignore the lights and sirens while continuing westbound on W. Johnson.
The vehicle then entered Interstate 41 northbound. The chase continued until the Fond du Lac Sheriff’s Office deployed spike strips near County Highway N.
After boxing in the vehicle, the suspect was arrested just south of the Winnebago/Fond du Lac county line.
The man was arrested on charges of felony fleeing and eluding, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and operating while impaired.
The investigation remains ongoing.
