TOWN OF TWO CREEKS, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Point Beach Nuclear Plant in Manitowoc County has reached a milestone.
Plant owner NextEra Energy says Point Beach recently produced its 200 billionth kilowatt of electricity. NextEra says that is equivalent to a 100-horsepower motor running for 3 million years.
Point Beach has been operating for more than 50 years. It is the last remaining nuclear power plant operating in Wisconsin.
NextEra says Point Beach generates 14% of Wisconsin’s energy, powering 950,000 homes.
