ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Many people are getting ready for the 47th Annual Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Girls Basketball State Tournament.
The tournament begins Thursday, and will go until Saturday at the Resch Center in Ashwaubenon.
There are five divisions with four teams qualifying in each division.
Four out of twenty schools are from Northeast Wisconsin: Hortonville, Notre Dame, Mishicot and Laconia.
Brad Toll, President and C-E-O of Discover Green Bay says the tournament is estimated to bring in $2 million to the area. Much of that money spent on hotel rooms, in restaurants and shops.
Many organizations in the area are taking extra steps to ensure the girls feel welcome coming to the Green Bay area.
PMI Entertainment group has been preparing the Resch Center by getting locker rooms ready and adding decals to the court.
Discover Green Bay has been stopping into hotel lobbies to put up decorations.
Restaurants and bars are also busy prepping food, drinks, and altering menu’s as needed.
Tickets for each division are still available, and can be purchased at the door.
