MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WRN) – A new study places Wisconsin as 8th in the nation for the rates where women are killed by men.
Wisconsin ranks number 8 in the country for rates of women murdered by men according to a new study by the Violence Policy Center.
Kristen Rand with V P C says the idea that most women are killed by strangers is a definite myth.
“Specifically in Wisconsin in this study, we found 81% of female victims were killed by someone that they knew. And even more troubling is 53% of those were killed by intimate partners.”
Rand says that most of these deaths occur outside of other crimes and that most often women are killed by men during arguments.
