STURGEON BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A resident of a downtown Sturgeon Bay building that burned down earlier this week was arrested.
Sturgeon Bay police say 57-year-old Anthony Gonzalez is expected in Door County court Friday afternoon.
On Tuesday, a fire destroyed a building on 3rd Avenue that housed Butch’s Bar and several living units above the bar.
Two tenants were found dead among the rubble and another tenant was sent to a Milwaukee burn center.
Officials say the fire displaced nine people.
Police are recommending two counts of second-degree reckless homicide and seven counts of second-degree recklessly endangering safety against Gonzalez.
Formal charges have not been filed.
