APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – The city of Appleton is offering COVID-19 relief grants to organizers of community events as well as groups that provide mental health services.
To be eligible for the community event grants, nonprofit organizations must provide cultural opportunities, enrich the community and stimulate economic activity.
“The first round of Appleton ARPA grants are focused on providing desperately needed support for organizations whose services are in especially high demand right now, and organizations that have largely fallen through the cracks of other (American Rescue Plan Act) programs,” Mayor Jake Woodford said in a news release. “This is the first direct allocation of ARPA funds from the City of Appleton, but it will not be the last.”
The city is making available $250,000 of the $14.9 million it is receiving from the federal government.
Applications from community event organizers and behavioral health providers are due by noon Feb. 3. Grants, in the amount of $10,000-$50,000, will be announced in March.
Organizations have until Nov. 30 to spend the money. Any unspent funds will need to be returned to the city by the end of the year.
