MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Authorities say the suspect arrested in a Manitowoc armed robbery has a history of aggravated robbery.
Last week an armed robbery was reported at the Boost Mobile store on Washington Street.
During the incident, officials say the suspect displayed a handgun and threatened an employee and a customer. The suspect got away with money from the cash register and iPhones.
Police say a review of area business security video showed the suspect get into a maroon Honda Element and leaving the area.
On Monday, officials were able to identify the suspect and located the 32-year-old Manitowoc resident at an area business.
He was taken into custody and a search warrant was executed at his S. 15th Street home.
The search turned up clothing consistent with the suspect description, firearms, electronics consistent with serial numbers of those stolen from Boost Mobile and cash. In addition, police say a handgun, cash and a large quantity of base cocaine packaged for sale was found inside a safe in the suspect’s bedroom.
Investigators later learned the suspect was a former resident of Illinois with a prior felony conviction for aggravated robbery.
Police are recommending a number of charges against the suspect, including robbery with the threat of a dangerous weapon, possession of cocaine with intent to deliver and felon in possession of a firearm.
