(UW-OSHKOSH SPORTS INFORMATION) – Center Jack Flynn, who helped the UW-Oshkosh men’s basketball program to a pair of NCAA Division III Final Four appearances and the 2019 national title, was named to the D3hoops.com 2010-20 All-Decade Team.
Flynn, a Fourth Team selection, was among 25 student-athletes honored by the national website that covers Division III men’s and women’s basketball.
D3hoops.com’s 2010-20 All-Decade squad featured five teams of five players each who played for one of the 400-plus Division III men’s basketball programs at any point from the beginning of the 2009-10 season through the end of the 2019-20 campaign.
Flynn and UW-Oshkosh made four consecutive trips to the Division III Championship, starting with a first-round appearance in 2017. The Titans then reached the national championship game in 2018 before securing the program’s first national title in 2019 with a 96-82 victory over Swarthmore College (Pa.). UW-Oshkosh suffered an 84-82 overtime setback to North Central College (Ill.) in the second round of the 2020 national tournament.
Flynn helped UW-Oshkosh to a 91-31 record, one WIAC postseason title and one league regular season championships in his four seasons as a Titan. UW-Oshkosh’s 2019 WIAC regular season title was the program’s first outright since 1978 while its 2020 postseason conference championship was the school’s fourth.
“Jack made a huge impact on our program from the moment he stepped on campus in 2016,” said UW-Oshkosh head men’s basketball coach Matt Lewis. “He brought a physicality and competitiveness to our team in every practice and every game. Jack was a great teammate who was respected by his teammates for his toughness and selflessness. His accomplishments on the court, both from a team and an individual perspective, speak for themselves. During his junior and senior year, we felt like we had the best big on the court every night. We always had an advantage that we could go to.”
Flynn played in 122 games and started 94 of them for the Titans. The last time he came off the bench was in the 2017 Division III Championship, where he scored a season-high 16 points during an 87-85 first-round loss at Hope College (Mich.).
Flynn’s personal scoring best came in the biggest game of his career, as he tallied 33 points in the 2019 national title game against Swarthmore College. He shot 13-for-18 from the floor while adding seven rebounds and two blocks. Flynn, who was named the Most Outstanding Player at the 2019 Division III Final Four, counted 21 points and 15 rebounds during a semifinal win over Wheaton College (Ill.).
Flynn received All-America Fourth Team honors from D3hoops.com in 2020 after averaging 16.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game to go along with a .544 field goal percentage and a team-leading 108 made free throws. He led the WIAC with 93 offensive rebounds while ranking second in the league in total rebounds (192), fourth in field goal percentage and rebounds per game, and fifth in scoring and blocks (22).
In 2019, Flynn averaged 15.5 points and a team-leading 8.2 rebounds per game to earn All-America Second Team honors. Flynn, who paced the Titans with a .593 field goal percentage and 10 double-doubles, led the conference with 115 offensive rebounds while ranking second in the league in field goal percentage and blocks (38), third in rebounds per game, and sixth in scoring.

The Appleton West High School graduate finished his four seasons as UW-Oshkosh’s all-time leader in games played while ranking second in school history with a .580 field goal percentage, fourth with 799 rebounds and ninth with 1,565 points.
Flynn is the second UW-Oshkosh basketball player to earn an All-Decade Team award from D3hoops.com. Forward Tim Dworak (2000-03) was named to the initial D3hoops.com All-Decade Team, which covered the website’s first decade of operation, in 2007 as a third-team selection.
