HOWARD, WI (WTAQ) — It’s a holiday shopping season unlike any other, and stores are taking extra steps this year to ward off COVID-19.
Heidi Datema is the store manager at Green Bay’s Meijer Store on the west side, she says they’re doing a lot to keep people coming into the store during the pandemic.
“We’re taking a lot of safety precautions, we’re offering health screenings for our employees” Datema told WTAQ. “We’re asking our customers and staff to wear masks, and a lot of cleaning is taking place.”
Shopping during a pandemic may look a little different, but Datema says people are still spending about as much money on holiday shopping as they always have.
“Board games might not have been a big thing, but now we see board games buying out,” Datema said. “Electronics is always huge, we have the Nintendo Switch, the PS5.”
Both of those game systems, along with the Xbox Series X, are already hot sellers this holiday season.
