(METRO) (Avondale, AZ) — Chase Elliott is taking home the title of NASCAR champion after winning the Cup Series finale at Phoenix Raceway.
At 24, he’s the third-youngest to win a Cup title.
It was Elliott’s fifth win of the season and first NASCAR championship. He won the round of eight finale last weekend to advance and knock out regular-season champion Kevin Harvick.
Elliott led for 153 laps and passed Joey Logano, who finished third, with 42 laps remaining.
Brad Keselowski finished second, while Denny Hamlin took fourth.
