MARINETTE COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A man is dead after a single vehicle crash early Saturday morning, according to the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s deputies say a 36 year-old Bernardo Diaz of Mexico who was living in the Town of Beaver has been identified as the victim.
Authorities say at about 4:30 a.m. Saturday morning a passerby on East 6th Road saw and reported that a vehicle was upside down off the road.
Inside the overturned vehicle was Diaz, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Upon investigation, the Marinette County Sheriff’s say that Diaz was heading eastbound on East 6th Road and went off and back onto the road multiple times.
After multiple times swerving on and off the road, deputies say the vehicle crashed into a power pole and then rolled over upside down.
Authorities say speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the fatal crash.
The crash is still under investigation.
