How it Happened:
Wilmette, Illinois, native Markie Hrvojevic recorded the match’s first shot on goal in the fourth minute in front of his hometown supporters.
After a back-and-forth start to the half, Roman Eisa got the Badgers on the board with a successful header in the 33rd minute. Aidan Martinez earned the assist on Eisa’s fifth goal of the season.
Wisconsin took the 1-0 lead into half, but the Wildcats hit their stride out of the break. Northwestern missed on a penalty kick in the 56th minute, but evened the score two minutes later with a successful penalty kick from Peter Riesz.
The Wildcats took their first lead of the night in the 70th minute on Riesz’ second goal of the night. The Badgers were awarded a penalty kick of their own six minutes later, but Matthew Zachemski’s shot was denied by NU’s keeper.
A handball inside the box gave Northwestern its third penalty kick of the night, which Riesz converted to put the Wildcats ahead 3-1.
