(WNFL) – Week 6 is in the books for high school football in Wisconsin.
How did WNFL’s top five and then some fare last week?
- Bay Port – The Pirates moved to 6-0 with their 55-7 win over Appleton West. The Pirates rushed for 186 yards, passed for 189, notched 8 quarterback sacks and returned a fumble for a touchdown. Up next: Host West De Pere on Friday, Oct. 2
- Notre Dame – The Tritons rushed for 348 yards in their 49-0 win over the Oshkosh North Spartans. Kingston Allen had 295 yards rushing and scored 6 touchdowns on 22 carries. Notre Dame finished with 358 yards rushing and 132 yards passing. Up next: At the Banta Bowl, Appleton vs Menasha on Friday, Oct. 2.
- West De Pere – The Phantoms stayed unbeaten with their 35-10 win over Pulaski. Kainan Strong rushed for 207 yards and Andrew Greisen threw for 176 yards and 3 touchdowns. West De Pere limited Pulaski to 2.8 yards per carry on the ground game. Up next: At Bay Port on Friday, Oct. 2.
- Freedom – The Irish outscored Little Chute 21-7 in the second half for a convincing 49-29 win between the teams ranked 1-2 in Division 4. Owen Henkel passed for 306 yards and 4 scores. George Van Schyndel rushed for 101 yards. Charlie Mickie caught 6 passes for 108 yards. Up next: At Wrightstown on Friday, Oct. 2.
- Little Chute – The Mustangs fell to Little chute 49-29. Jaden Hermsen rushed for 77 yards and threw for 58 for Little Chute which finished with 237 yards of offense. Up next: Host Denmark on Friday, Oct. 2.
How did the best of the rest fare on Friday? Bonduel beat Peshtigo 56-14, Brillion downed Two Rivers 43-14, Algoma beat Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah 44-0, Neenah beat Appleton North 21-14, Menasha beat Sheboygan North 42-2, Denmark beat Kohler/Sheboygan Lutheran/Christian 53-32 and Sevastopol beat Oneida Nation 60-12.
The remaining unbeatens in the WNFL listening area are Bay Port, Bonduel, Freedom, Notre Dame and West De Pere.
One-loss teams include Brillion, Algoma, Denmark, Little Chute, Menasha and Sevastopol.
