(ST. NORBERT COMMUNICATIONS) DE PERE – St. Norbert College remained unbeaten in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference action with a 28-14 win over Wisconsin Lutheran College at Schneider Stadium.
The Green Knights (2-2, 2-0 NACC) got 198 passing yards from junior quarterback Caleb Sprutles in his first career start and had a big 88-yard kickoff return for a touchdown from Jacob McVane to hold off Wisconsin Lutheran (2-2, 0-2).
Wisconsin Lutheran took the opening kickoff and reached the St. Norbert 32-yard line before being stopped on downs. The Green Knights then embarked on a 12-play, 68-yard drive to score on their first possession, with McVane scoring on an 8-yard run to cap a possession that took 6 minutes 27 seconds for a 7-0 lead. Those were the only points of the first half, with a scoreless second quarter’s best scoring chance ending in a missed St. Norbert field-goal attempt.
St. Norbert doubled its lead early in the third quarter, recovering a muffed punt at the Wisconsin Lutheran 13. The Green Knights needed just three plays, scoring on a 9-yard touchdown pass from Sprutles to Adam Westberg (pictured). The Warriors responded with a touchdown on their next scrimmage play, an 86-yard touchdown from Roman Morales to Keith Johnson. St. Norbert answered five plays later when Westberg escaped several Wisconsin Lutheran tacklers and scored a 64-yard touchdown reception from Sprutles, with 46 of those coming after the catch for a 21-7 lead with 8:55 left in the quarter.
Wisconsin Lutheran again made it a one-score game when it capped a nine-play, 66 yard drive on a 16-yard touchdown pass from Morales to Benett Reader with 3:45 left. McVane then pushed the Green Knights back ahead by two scores with an 88-yard return of the ensuing kickoff.
St. Norbert held Wisconsin Lutheran to 31 yards of total offense in a scoreless fourth quarter to close out the win.
St. Norbert outgained Wisconsin Lutheran 293-283 in total offense. Sprutles completed 14 of 22 passes for 198 yards with two touchdowns. McVane rushed 26 times for 87 yards and one touchdown while finishing with 233 all-purpose yards. Westberg caught six psases for 103 yards and two touchdowns.
Morales completed 16 of 30 passes for 218 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Liam Heiges rushed 14 times for 54 yards for the Warriors.
John Seitz had 10 tackles with a quarterback sack to lead the St. Norbert defense. Jim Feeney added six tackles, while Eamonn Murhy had five stops with two tackles-for-loss. Feeney and Alex Carter also had interceptions.

LA PLUME, PA – Justin Klinkner completed 9-of-12 passes for 143 yards and 2 touchdowns, Tommy Lutz rushed for 112 yards on 21 carries and Tommy Novotny had 99 yards rushing on 9 carries in the Warhawks’ win over Keystone College.
The Warhawks scored 28 points in both the first and second quarters, piled up 479 yards offensively and limited Keystone to 69 yards of offense.
