(UW ATHLETICS) – The No. 6 Wisconsin volleyball team is set to open conference play against a pair of ranked opponents, welcoming No. 20 Oregon on Thursday, Sept. 24, before hitting the road to take on No. 10 Purdue on Sunday, Sept. 27.
The Badgers are slated to take on Oregon at 7 p.m. on Thursday for Steve Lowe Night before hitting the road to take on Purdue at 3 p.m. on Sunday. Fans looking to purchase tickets to Thursday’s match can do so here.
Wisconsin will meet the Ducks for the sixth time in program history, marking the fourth match-up between the two teams at the UW Field House where the Badgers hold a 3-0 edge. The Badgers last met the Ducks in Eugene last season, earning a 3-1 victory.
The Badgers will hit the road to West Lafayette, where the all-time series sits tied at 21-21. Wisconsin will look to extend its two-match win streak over the Boilermakers, where they last completed a sweep at the Field House last season.
Wisconsin is fresh off its week of wrapping up non-conference play, hosting a pair of in-state opponents in Marquette and Milwaukee. With the two wins, the Badgers remain undefeated at the Field House this season.
Junior Charlie Fuerbringer and freshman Decelise Champion both earned conference nods thanks to their standout performances last week. Fuerbringer picked up Setter of the Week honors as Champion earned Freshman of the Week, both their first of the season.
On Thursday, Wisconsin completed a four-set victory over Marquette after dropping the first set. UW saw five Badgers tally double-digit kills, as freshman Decelise Champion led the way with 20 in her first career start. Champion’s 20 kills marks the first time a freshman has tallied 20 or over since Anna Smrek’s 20 kills against Louisville in the NCAA National Semifinals in 2021.
The Badgers wrapped up the weekend against the Milwaukee Panthers, picking up a four-set victory and clipping above a .300 hitting percentage for the second night in a row. Charlie Fuerbringer and Grace Lopez both tallied double-doubles to help Wisconsin to the win.
