MENASHA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Homeowners are having trouble with insurance, more than a month after the tornado destroyed dozens of homes and damaged many more.
He gave his recommendation on what homeowners should do in a situation like this.
“Everybody should be referring back to that insurance policy,” said Fuehrer, a Neenah-based lawyer. “So if an adjuster is saying that your roof isn’t covered, then they need to be showing the homeowner where in the policy it says it’s not covered.”
He said in the case of a disaster, a homeowner should take a few photos of damage when the disaster initially strikes, then clean up what you can to mitigate damage. For any major work, get insurance approval and work with a contractor who has previous experience working with insurance companies.
If you still have a complaint, you can also file with the Wisconsin Commissioner of Insurance.
