(HORIZON LEAGUE) – Green Bay women’s soccer’s Jess Howard has been named the Under Armour #HLWSOC Defensive Player of the Week. It is the first time Howard has received the award in her young Phoenix career.
The defender from Menomonee, Wis., started twice and played 180 minutes in GB’s two shutouts this week. The Phoenix took down South Dakota in their home opener 1-0 on Thursday, August 20, and tied Omaha on Sunday, August 23.
The Defense, which Howard has helped lead, has been key in Green Bay’s first four-game unbeaten start since the 1996 season. Green Bay has shut out its opponents in three of its four games.
The Phoenix will look to continue its unbeaten start on Thursday when they host St. Thomas at Aldo Santaga Stadium at 7 p.m.
