(MARQUETTE COMMUNICATIONS) – The Marquette University men’s basketball team concluded its summer tour in Vancouver with a 102-65 victory over Fraser Valley on Saturday night to finish the trip 3-0.
The travel party made stops in Vancouver and Whistler during the eight-day journey, playing a trio of games against Calgary (July 29), Trinity Western (July 30) and Fraser Valley (August 1).
Marquette’s last foreign trip came in the summer of 2023 when the program visited Italy. A recent change in NCAA rules allows teams the opportunity to embark on a tour every year, rather than the previous cadence of every four seasons.
The Golden Eagles last visited Vancouver for a foreign tour in September of 2007.
Sophomore Michael Phillips II led seven players in double figures with 15 points off the bench and MU held Fraser Valley to just 30 percent shooting from the field. Guard Nolan Minessale chipped in 11 points in just 14 minutes of action and forward Sananda Fru chipped in 10 points and nine rebounds. Guard Adrien Stevens missed the game due to illness and Nash Walker didn’t see action in any of the three games as he continues to recover from shoulder surgery.
