(247NEWSSOURCE/WNFL) – Tyler Mahle tossed six shutout innings as the San Francisco Giants blanked the Milwaukee Brewers 3-0 in San Francisco.
Mahle moved to 3-and-8 with the victory.
Grant McCray belted a two-run homer for the Giants, who have won three of four.
Brewers manager Pat Murphy said that even though the Brewers didn’t get into San Francisco until late Sunday night due to sitting on the tarmac in their plane in Milwaukee, that can not be used as an excuse.
Brandon Sproat allowed three runs in six frames as he fell to 3-and-6. He allowed the runs on 6 hits and 3 walks. He struck out 5.
Sproat said that, at least, he was able to pitch deep into the game.
The Brewers managed just 3 hits – 1 each by Jackson Chourio, Andrew Vaughn and Jake Bauers.
Milwaukee had won its previous two.
The 2 teams meet again Tuesday night at Oracle Park in San Francisco.
Logan Henderson will get the starting pitching assignment for Milwaukee. He is 4-1 with a 3.05 ERA.
San Francisco will counter with Landen Roupp who is 7-8 with a 3.93 ERA.
