(LEARFIELD) – The Milwaukee Brewers took four out of five games in this week’s series in St. Louis, capping things off with an 8-4 winner Thursday.
Jake Bauers’ three-run shot in the third inning was the big blast.
Bauer’s home run with Brice Turang and Jackson Chourio on base was his 17th of the season and gave the Brewers a 6-0 lead against St. Louis starting pitcher Andre Pallante.
Bauers said that he’s had a good first half.
Brice Turang also went deep, and Logan Henderson claimed his third win.
Brewers manager Pat Murphy said that besides Bauers, a number of young players played well.
Henderson allowed 3 runs on 3 hits and 1 walk in 5 1/3 innings. He struck out 4 as he improved to 3-1.
Murphy also talked about Henderson’s outing being good, coming off an injury.
Chad Patrick allowed a run in 1 2/3 innings of relief with Aaron Ashby and Abner Uribe each pitching a scoreless inning.
Milwaukee leads the Chicago Cubs in the Central Division standings by six-and-a-half games.
The Brewers are now 10-5 in their 18-games-in-17-days stretch.
Bauers said that this stretch is tiring but they are winning.
