GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — An 18-year-old man is dead and a 17-year-old injured after an overnight shooting on Green Bay’s east side.
Police Chief Chris Davis says officers were called to the 2400 block of Deckner Avenue for a report of weapons around 1:45 a.m.
Officers found an 18-year-old man in the street with an apparent gunshot wound and tried to resuscitate him, but were unable to. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Around the same time, a 17-year-old victim showed up to the hospital with a gunshot wound. That victim is expected to survive.
Police detained one person in a nearby home and continue to investigate that person’s connection to the incident. Davis did not release any more information about that person.
Officers are still looking for a suspect in the case.
Davis said the shootings were likely related to a gathering at a nearby home. He would not give any more information about that gathering or how it was connected to the shootings.
Deckner Avenue will likely be closed for several more hours while police investigate.
Neighbors were under a shelter-in-place order for several hours Monday morning before the order was lifted around 8:30 a.m.
