GRAND CHUTE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A new space dedicated to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers’ youngest fans opened Wednesday at Fox Cities Stadium.
With the help of the team’s mascot, Whiffer, the T-Rats cut the ribbon on Whifferball Field — a children’s play area.
It’s located behind the left-field berm in a newly-expanded area of the stadium. The field is fenced in and features a wiffle ball diamond prepared by the Timber Rattlers’ grounds crew.
President/CEO Rob Zerjav said this has been a passion project of his for quite some time.
“We’ve really never had a place for kids to play catch here at the ballpark. You always see kids coming out with their gloves. They see our players on the field and all they want to do is play,” Zerjav said. “Just really excited to have the kids play on it for many years to come.”
Network Health partnered with the Timber Rattlers as the presenting sponsor of Whifferball Field.
“It’s going to be a great experience for the young children in our community to get together and play. Personally, as a parent and as a father, this is what it’s all about. It’s about kids coming out and playing,” said Brian Ollech, the chief financial officer for Network Health and a board member for Timber Rattlers Giveback.
For those of you who know baseball, it’s more than just a game. It’s about coming together. It’s about playing. It’s about having fun, building confidence and building memories, and that’s what’s going to happen on this field for summers to come.
Full-season, half-season, mini-plan and flex packages for the 2026 T-Rats season are available online, over the phone at (920) 733-4152 or in person at the box office located at Neuroscience Group Field. It is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
