(UW ATHLETICS) -FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Wisconsin track and field team continued its competition at the NCAA West First Round on Thursday as six Badgers were in action at John McDonnell Field.
Senior Danni Langseth came close to advancing to the NCAA outdoor championships in the women’s shot put. Langseth ultimately finished 13th with a toss of 53 feet, 10 ¼ inches (16.41m) as the top-12 finishers advanced to the national championships next month in Eugene, Oregon.
Zonica Lindeque threw a season-best in the shot of 51-11¼ (15.83m) to place 18th. Hadley Lucas placed 34th with a 48-4 ½ (14.74m).
Taylor Kesner placed 20th in the javelin with a toss of 156-11 (47.83m). The senior will be back in action on Saturday in the women’s discus as she enters as the No. 8 seed in the event.
Mya Bunke wrapped up her season in the women’s 1500 meters with a time of 4:23.28.
In the men’s pole vault that was delayed a day due to rainy conditions on Wednesday, Nathan Nelson finished tied for 28th with a clearance of 16-7 ½ (5.07m).
Up Next: Nine men will be in action on Friday for the NCAA West first round. Jake Schaefer will start the day off for UW with the discus throw at 1:00 p.m. Matan Ivri will begin his day with the 1500 meter final at 5:15 p.m., while Nick Gilles will race in the 3000 meter steeplechase at 5:40 p.m. Josh Onwunili will compete in the 100 meter finals at 6:35 p.m., and the 800 meter duo of Patrick Hilby and Henry Risser will race at 7:05 p.m. The Badgers will finish the day with Matan Ivri returning to run the 5000 meter, alongside Archie Noakes and Liam Newhart at 8:10 p.m.
