(LEARFIELD) – The Milwaukee Brewers claimed a split of their rain-shortened two-game series at St. Louis with a 6-2 victory Wednesday afternoon.
Reliever Aaron Ashby got the win by pitching two hitless innings.
Milwaukee took the lead early, scoring 4 first-inning runs on a single by Jake Bauers and a 3-run home run by Andrew Vaughn.
Joey Ortiz added the fifth run when he scored in the fifth inning on a wild pitch and Jackson Chourio drove in a run with a ninth-inning double.
Chourio returned to action by going 6-for-10 in the two games with three doubles.
Brandon Sproat pitched the first 4 innings for Milwaukee, allowing 1 hit and 3 walks while striking out 5.
DL Hall pitched the fifth with Ashby pitching the next 2 innings.
Trevor Megill and Abner Uribe pitched the eighth and ninth innings, respectively with both pitchers allowing a run to score.
Andre Pallante took the loss for St. Louis.
The Brewers are off today before hosting the New York Yankees in a weekend series at American Family Field.
