(WNFL) – The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Washington Nationals in Washington, DC on Friday and survived an injury scare.
First, the injury scare.
Brewers starting pitcher Jacob Misiorowski was cruising, pitching no-hit ball into the sixth inning.
Then 1 out into the sixth, he left with an injury. It was diagnosed as a hamstring cramp.
On the night, Misiorowski threw 43 pitches at 100+ mph, 3rd most in MLB history and left the game with a 4-0 lead.
Aaron Ashby allowed a run in 2 2/3 innings before Easton McGee closed the game out with a scoreless ninth.
William Contreras led the Brewers on offense with 4 hits and 3 RBI. Tyler Black had a pair of hits as did David Hamilton.
Jake Irvin took the loss for the Nationals.
Game 2 of the series will be played Saturday afternoon with the pre-game show starting at 2:30 on 97.5 and 1360 WTAQ.
