(ST NORBERT COMMUNICATIONS) DE PERE – St. Norbert College will host the University of New England (Maine) in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 14, at Cornerstone Community Center in De Pere.
The Green Knights (21-6-2) earned the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association’s automatic qualifier into the 14-team tournament by capturing the Harris Cup Playoffs title with a 3-1 win over Aurora University on Saturday.
The Nor’easters (21-6) earned an at-large berth into the tournament after falling Saturday in the championship game of the Conference of New England Tournament to Endicott College 2-1.
The winner will advance to play at three-time defending NCAA Division III champion Hobart College (27-0) in a national quarterfinal on Saturday, March 21 in Geneva, N.Y.
This tournament appearance is St. Norbert’s 23rd, tied for the most all-time with Plattsburgh State University. The Green Knights made appearances in 1997-99, 2002-08, 2010-14, 2016-19, 2022 and 2024-26 with 12 Frozen Four appearances. The Green Knights are 35-17-1 in the tournament and won the 2008, 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2018 national championships, with their 35 national tournament wins the most by any school. St. Norbert is 26-8 in its last 34 NCAA Tournament games dating back to 2008.
UNE is making its sixth tournament appearance, going 5-5 all-time after qualifying in 2018, 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2025. The Nor’easters advanced to the Frozen Four in 2022 and 2023.
