(247NEWSSOURCE/UW ATHLETICS) – The Wisconsin men’s basketball team will return to the court tonight. The Badgers will take on Providence in the Rady Children’s Invitational in San Diego. UW enters the matchup at 4-and-1, coming off a 98-70 loss to BYU last Friday in Salt Lake City. Nick Boyd led the team with 16 points in the setback.
The matchup with Providence marks the sixth between the two squads.T
The Badgers are seeking their first win over the Friars since Dec. 26, 1961, where they took a New York City neutral-site battle, 95-84.
Providence is led by a trio of guards accounting for nearly half of the team’s total scoring.
North Texas transfer Jason Edwards leads the way with 19.3 points per game, while UCF transfer Jaylin Sellers has 16 per contest.
Estonian freshman Stefan Vaaks has quickly become a go-to guy for Kim English’s squad, posting 14.8 points per game on 46.2-percent shooting.
Getting back the Axe: The Wisconsin football team will play its final regular season game this weekend. The Badgers will battle Minnesota for Paul Bunyan’s Axe on Saturday in Minneapolis. The visiting team has won the past three matchups between the programs. Wisconsin enters the week at 4-and-7, but having won two of its last three games.
UW lands an offensive lineman: The Wisconsin football team added to its 2026 recruiting class on Wednesday. The Badgers received a commitment from three-star offensive lineman Brady Bekkenhuis. The Massachusetts native flipped his pledge from Boston College to UW. The Badgers now have the 63rd best recruiting class in the nation, according to 247Sports.
