VILLAGE OF HARRISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A brand-new park in the village of Harrison is giving children and families a place to enjoy the outdoors.
Rennwood Park is a 13.62-acre neighborhood park located at W6640 Ethan Drive, in the northwestern part of Harrison.
“This used to be a family-owned farm. Back in 2020, it was slated to be developed, and part of the family selling the land was to agree to have a park here named in honor of their family, for the decades that they owned this land,” explained Village President Scott Handschke.
He said the park was thoughtfully designed with community feedback at the forefront. A neighborhood survey highlighted strong interest in a natural and inclusive playground, walking trails and lighted parking.
“The community came out and they wanted a different type of park than just your standard park,” said Handschke. “They said they would like something that was inclusive for all kids, no matter what their ability, but also, more nature-looking, more natural landscape-type of playground set, that blended more into the woods and the area.”
The playground features concrete pathways, rubber safety surfacing, native plantings, slab benches, log climber with ropes, monkey bars and slides. Areas of the park are sectioned into age groups (ages 2-5 and 5-12) and portable restrooms will be available in the summer months.
