(WIAA) – Singles players and doubles teams won championships in two divisions at the 2025 State Girls Individual Tennis Tournament Saturday at Nielsen Tennis Stadium.
In Division 2 doubles action, Adel Schneider and Vivie Auth of St. Mary Catholic successfully defended the championship they won in 2024 with a 6-2, 6-1 win over third-seeded Ava Miller and Parker Van Dusen of Kenosha St. Joseph Catholic. The top-seeded duo improved their record to 28-0 this year. They haven’t lost a match since becoming a duo last season, posting a 59-0 mark during that span. Schneider also qualified in 2023 in singles play and fell in her first-round match after advancing to the second round as a freshman in 2022. Miller and Van Dusen earn the silver medal after placing fourth last year.
Top-seeded Caroline Raster of Brookfield East won the Division 1 singles crown with a 6-3, 3-6, 11-9 victory over second-seeded McKenna Thorson of Verona. A four-time qualifier, Raster remained undefeated this season with a 24-0 mark. She placed fifth the past two seasons after advancing to the third round of play in 2022. Thorson finished runner-up for the second straight season after advancing to the quarterfinals in 2023. In addition, Lexie Hankel of West De Pere and Angela Wang of University School of Milwaukee finished third and fourth, respectively, for the second year in a row.
In doubles play, the top-seeded sister duo of Lizzie and Amelia Stuckslager of Divine Savior Holy Angels won the Division 1 title. The tandem defeated third-seeded, and 2024 champions, Sarah Neubert and Isabella Heidenberger of Arrowhead 6-1, 6-0 to finish at 16-0 this year. Lizzie, a four-time State qualifier, becomes just the third girl in State Tournament history to win three doubles titles. She also won the 2022 and 2023 doubles championships with a different partner. Last year, she advanced to the quarterfinals in singles play. Amelia adds a title after a runner-up finish with a different partner last season.
In Division 2, top-seeded Susanna Hundt of Chesterton Academy finished the season undefeated at 30-0, winning the singles championship following a 4-6, 6-0, 10-8 triumph over second-seeded Sasha Quandt of Lourdes Academy. Hundt improves on her third-place standing a year ago and a sixth-place finish in 2023. Quandt finishes runner-up after placing fourth last year and advancing to the quarterfinals in 2023.
The State Girls Team Tennis Tournament will be held Friday and Saturday, Oct. 24-25 at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium.
