(ST. NORBERT COMMUNICATIONS) DE PERE – St. Norbert College earned a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Benedictine University in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference matchup at Schneider Stadium.
The first half went scoreless, but the Green Knights (8-6, 6-2 NACC) found the net twice in the second half. Hayden Dunn scored both goals for St. Norbert with the first one at 55:43 off an assist from Everett Saeger. Joe Anguil (pictured) assisted Dunn’s second goal at 67:44 to extend the lead to 2-0. Kamil Bak scored the Eagles’ lone goal at 73:21.
St. Norbert put five of its 11 shots on goal, with three coming from Dunn, and one each for Kevin Ramirez and Saeger. Benedictine placed six of 12 attempts on target and held a 3-2 edge in corner kicks.
Jackson Kiszka played all 90 minutes in net for the Green Knights, recording four saves.
WOMEN
St. Norbert 1, Benedictine 0
DE PERE – St. Norbert College bounced back with a 1-0 senior day win over Benedictine University in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference game at Schneider Stadium.
The Green Knights (3-10-1, 3-4-1 NACC) earned the win thanks to Mackenzie Schneider’s (pictured) third goal of the year and her third in the past two weeks. Striking from a free kick at 59:19, her 25-yard free kick proved to the deciding factor in the game as St. Norbert earned it’s third clean sheet in conference play.
St. Norbert thought they had gone ahead in the final minute of the first half when Meredith Posanski’s tap-in found the back of the net but was ruled to be offsides.
The Green Knights outshot Benedictine 15-8, with five of those shots hitting on frame. Addie Schneider had five shots, while Brynn Gunderson and Mackenzie Schneider each had two.
St. Norbert was outgained 3-2 in corner kicks and committed eight fouls to Benedictine’s 11.
Taylor Wilson made three saves for her second clean sheet of the season.
