(WNFL) – The field is set for the WIAA girls state golf tournament this Monday and Tuesday at the University Ridge GC in the Madison area.
Bay Port and Hortonville finished 1-2 at the Division 1 sectional to advance as a team.

Emma Cunningham of Green Bay East/West/Preble/Southwest took medalist honors with a score of 84 to advance to state. Reece Osowski of West De Pere and Emma Hudson of De Pere also qualified as individuals
In Division 2, Seymour and Kettle Moraine Lutheran finished 1-2 at the Seymour sectional to advance as a team.

The 3 individual qualifiers were Aubrey of Molaisson of Lake Country Lutheran, Addie Darrow of University School of Milwaukee and either Kate Forton of St. Thomas More or Reese Bandow of Luxemburg-Casco. The 2 finished tied with scores of 90 but the WIAA website did not indicate which player won the tiebreaker.
Football playoffs: Week 7 of the high school football season starts on Thursday.
If the playoffs were to begin today, based on the new qualifying method, here are the area teams who would as of today be in the playoffs.
Division 1: Neenah, Bay Port, Appleton North, Kimberly and De Pere.
Division 2: Notre Dame, West De Pere, Pulaski, Menasha, Kaukauna at Ashwaubenon.
Division 3: Luxemburg-Casco, Fox Valley Lutheran, Marinette
Division 4: Little Chute, Winneconne, Oconto Falls, Seymour, Freedom and Wrightstown.
Division 5: Brillion and Chilton
Division 6: Bonduel, St. Mary Catholic, Valders
Division 7: Hilbert, Crivitz and Reedsville
8-man football: Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas, Niagara, Wabeno/Laona, Sevastopol and Gibraltar
Run so fast: According to Athletic.net, De Pere’s Grady Lenn has the fastest cross country time among boys runners in the state so far this season.
At the Nightfall Classic in Neenah on Sept. 12, Lenn turned in a time of 14:46.8. That is about 28 seconds faster than Marquette Univesity high school’s Eli North who is in second.
The fastest girls time so far in the state this season is Emmerson Dobrac of Deerfield/Cambridge with a time of 17:28.9.
The Fox River Classic Conference will hold the conference cross country meet on Thursday, Oct. 16 at UW-Green Bay’s Shorewood Center while the Fox Valley Association will have its conference meet at Countryside Golf Course on the same date.
The Eastern Wisconsin Conference conference meet will be hosted by Valders on Thursday, Oct. 16.
The North Eastern Conference championship will be run at the Shorewood Cross Country course on Friday, Oct. 17 while the Bay Conference and Big East Conference meets will be held on Saturday, October 18 at the Shorewood Cross Country course in Green Bay and in Two Rivers, respectively.
The Packerland Conference meet will be held Tuesday, October 14.
Boys volleyball rankings
Middleton continues to be the overwhelming No. 1 in the latest Wisconsin Boys Volleyball poll.
The Cardinals got 26 first-place votes compared to 2 for runnerup Germantown.
Two area teams are in the top ten. Kimberly and Appleton North are ranked eighth and ninth, respectively.
