(GREEN BAY ATHLETICS) GREEN BAY – The Green Bay men’s soccer team fell in its home contest against Oakland on Saturday by a final score of 2-1. The Golden Grizzlies’ game-winning goal in the 86th minute was scored by Tim Allos from an assist by Julian Kanzler.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The contest remained reliant on defense to start, with the 0-0 score holding until a 29th-minute goal from Phoenix forward Keegan Walker put Green Bay up 1-0. The goal came after some nice Phoenix build-up that ended in Jeloni Murray-Powell and Kazuki Okazaki assists to Walker. The Phoenix would hold that lead for most of the second half as well, holding Oakland scoreless on seven shots through the first 80 minutes of the game.
The Golden Grizzlies found an answer in the 81st minute from a tapped-in unassisted score from Tim Allos past the hands of Phoenix Goalkeeper Philip Oesterbaek to even the score 1-1.
Just six minutes later, Oakalnd struck again to take their first lead in the 86th minute, again off the right foot of Allos, assisted by Julian Kanzler. The 2-1 score would hold as the final, with the Golden Grizzlies completing the comeback for the win.
GAME NOTES
• Keegan Walker’s third goal and fifth total point of the season for the Phoenix now both lead the team.
