(MARQUETTE COMMUNICATIONS) – The Marquette women’s volleyball team fell 3-0 to No. 14 Creighton on Thursday night. The Golden Eagles were led by Natalie Ring with 13 kills while Hattie Bray secured 11 of her own. Defensively, Adriana Studer led with 14 digs. MU moves to 8-5 overall and 2-1 in conference action.
MU saw struggles in the first set as they fell 3-1 early but regained momentum quickly taking a 5-4 lead. The match remained close seeing nine ties until Marquette began to pull away 13-11. It didn’t take long for the Bluejays to regain the lead as they took the set 25-16. Bray led with five kills, followed by Ring and Emma Parks with two a piece.
The second started off slow for the Golden Eagles as they trailed 14-8 mid set. A 5-0 run by the Blue and Gold started to close the scoring gap at 15-12. A crucial kill by Elena Radeff brought the score to 20-18, but Creighton continued to pull away and secured the set 25-19. Ring led with six kills while Parks, Bray, and Radeff chipped in with two each.
MU started to show signs of life in third set seeing five leveled scores and four lead changes. However, Creighton was able to regain the lead and went on a 5-0 run down the stretch posting a 22-15 lead. The Bluejays closed out the set 25-18 with back to back kills. For Marquette, Ring led with five kills and Bray added four.

- Head coach Tom Mendoza was an assistant coach at Creighton from 2010 to 2015.
- Marquette is 4-1 when they out-block an opponent.
- This match marks the first loss of BIG EAST play for MU.
