(LEARFIELD) – The Milwaukee Brewers close out the regular season with a three-game series against the Cincinnati Reds at home beginning tonight.
Even though they clinched the division title some time ago, there’s still something on the line.
Milwaukee needs one victory or one Phillies loss this weekend to hold the best record in baseball.
That would mean a home-field advantage.
The Brewers’ Christian Yelich said that the team has done a good job of staying focussed all season.
The Reds, meanwhile, are trying to make the playoffs as a wild card team. They trail the New York Mets by 1 game for the final wild card spot. If those 2 teams finish the season tied, the Reds would make the playoffs because they won the season series against the New York club.
Quinn Priest starts tonight’s game against the Reds. Priester is 13-2 with a 3.25 ERA.
Brewers third baseman Caleb Durbin talked about the season Priester has had.
Cincinnati will counter with Zack Littell who is 10-8 with a 3.86 ERA.
