Kirk Dunn (Manitowoc Co. Jail)
MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A murder Tuesday in Manitowoc was the continuation of an on-going dispute, with the suspect in custody saying he was shot at first, according to a police probable cause statement.
Kirk Dunn, 20, was arrested on requested charges of first-degree intentional homicide and recklessly endangering safety.
During a court appearance Wednesday, bond was set at $500,000 cash by Commissioner Luke LeFevre.
Dunn returns to court Monday for a formal initial appearance.
According to the police report, Dunn said a man was trying to kill him.
Dunn told police he was at 2433 Dewey Street, when he opened the apartment door and saw a blue laser on a firearm pointed at him. A shot was fired, and he fired back three times, went back inside, and closed the door.
The victim was taken by private vehicle to the 1200 block of South 17th Street. When officers arrived at that location, life-saving measures were initiated but were ultimately unsuccessful. The male victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
