(LEARFIELD) SAN DIEGO – Catcher Freddy Fermin singled in the winning run in the 11th inning Monday night, qualifying the San Diego Padres for the postseason.
The Brewers dropped the hard-fought 5-4 game with Grant Anderson taking the loss.
Milwaukee took the lead with a three-run second inning and held it until the seventh.
Brewers manager Pat Murphy talked about the extra-innings loss.
He talked additionally about battling for 11 innings after already clinching the division title.
Murphy said that there was a lot of good despite the loss.
Christian Yelich drove in two runs as the Brewers lost for the third time in the last four games.
Bruce Zimmerman who was called up from Triple-A Nashville gets the start tonight.
