(UW ATHLETICS) The No. 7 Wisconsin volleyball team enjoyed its fifth-straight sweep, this time taking down it’s in-state rival Marquette (25-15, 25-14, 25-18) at the Fiserv Forum in front of 10,020 fans in attendance.
The Badgers continued to shine on the offensive end throughout the entirety of the match, especially in set one. UW turned in a hitting percentage of .640 to start the battle, led by the likes of outside hitter Mimi Colyer and a trio of kills from setter Charlie Fuerbringer.
Wisconsin went on two separate 4-0 runs to take an early advantage on the road, highlighted by kills turned in by three Badgers to secure set one, 25-15.
UW maintained the momentum offensively in set two, paced by a 6-0 run in the early to put the Badgers up 12-3. In that span, the serving run of Colyer forced the Golden Eagles into multiple errors, in addition to back-to-back kills from outside hitter Una Vajagic.
From there, Wisconsin earned quality contributions in set two from outside hitter Madison Quest and middle blocker Natalie Wardlow. Quest tallied a kill during the latter half of the second set, while Wardlow accumulated one of her two service aces.
It was a back-and-forth affair between the Badgers and Golden Eagles in set three, as both defenses began to find a rhythm in the match. For the fourth match this season, Wisconsin was able to hold their opponent to a hitting percentage below .200, as Marquette finished at .101 (26-18-79).
The Badgers won the last six rallies in the match to cap off their fifth straight win, as the evening concluded with a kill from Colyer, who once again led the offensive attack for UW. The senior finished with 13 kills while hitting .550, putting up double-digits for the seventh consecutive game.
Fuerbringer was the stabilizer on the offensive end, racking up 32 assists to eclipse the 1,500-assist mark in her young career.
From the middle, senior Carter Booth put together one of her top performances on the season—finishing with three of the Badgers’ seven blocks, in addition to an errorless night with a hitting percentage of .583 (7 – 0 – 12).
Outside hitter Grace Egan earned nine kills on 14 attempts, turning in her top swing percentage of the season at .429.

- The Badgers hit .487 (46-9-76) for its fourth-straight match of the season.
- For the fourth time this season, the Badgers held its opponent under .200 hitting percentage. Marquette hit just .101 (26-18-79).
- Outside hitter Mimi Colyer reached double-digit kills for the seventh-straight match. Colyer has also hit .500 or better for the fourth-straight match.
- Sophomore setter Charlie Fuerbringer needed just 27 assists to reach a career 1,500 assists. Fuerbringer reached the milestone in the third set of tonight’s match. She finished with a match-high 32.
- Senior middle blocker Carter Booth recorded two blocks and is now just three blocks away from a career 500. Booth added seven kills on 12 swings.
- Right side Grace Egan added nine kills on 14 swings and hit a season-best .429 (9-3-14).
Up Next: The Badgers return home to host the Kohl Center Classic, as they will take on No. 15 Florida on Sunday, Sept. 21. The match is set to start at 12:00 p.m. CT.
