(ST NORBERT COMMUNICATIONS) DE PERE – St. Norbert College earned its first win of the season in the final game of its weekend tournament, taking down Carthage College 2-1 after two second half goals in a non-conference game at Schneider Stadium.
The Green Knights (1-3) dominated the first half, having five shots and allowing none from the Firebirds.
St. Norbert’s persistence paid off in the second half, with Dominic Lagona scoring his first goal of the season after he was brought down in the box at 66:30. Carthage equalized 10 minutes later as Dennis Valle noted the game up 1-1 at 76:07.
With less than six minutes left, midfielder Joe Anguil (pictured) scored the winner following a cross from Linus Coleman to make it 2-1 at 84:02.
The Green Knights outshot Carthage 10-6, with half of those shots hitting on target for St. Norbert. Lagona and Hayden Dunn each had two shots, with six others having one.
St. Norbert committed 11 fouls to the Firebird’s 14 and outgained the visitors in corners 6-2.

Lake Forest 4, St. Norbert 0
DE PERE – St. Norbert College continued its non-conference slate with a 4-0 loss to Lake Forest College at Schneider Stadium.
The Green Knights (0-4) nearly had an odd goal scored by Colleen Callaghan, whose cross hit the top woodwork at 3:54. However, St. Norbert was setback at 25:07, with the Foresters scoring off an Anna Hoffman strike.
It was a 1-0 affair till 60:25 when Lake Forest found a second goal. The Foresters went on to score two more goals in the second half, coming at 80:21 and 85:48.
The Green Knights featured a full cast in the lineup, with 25 seeing action during the game. Along with Callaghan, Mackenzie Schneider and Danielle Dewar added one shot each.
Taylor Wilson recorded seven saves in the first half, while Leah Hess added four in relief during the second half.
Izzy DeStefano led the Foresters with two assists, helping on the first two goals of the game.
