(GREEN BAY ATHLETICS) – MACOMB, Ill. –The Green Bay men’s soccer team won its second straight game in shutout fashion on Saturday afternoon, taking down Western Illinois by a 1-0 score. Chris Album made the difference, scoring his second goal of the season in the 33rd minute, which was enough for GB to secure the win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Leathernecks had their opportunities to score in the first, outshooting GB 9-5. However, Green Bay was clinical with its chances, converting one of its five shots into a goal in the 33rd minute. Album’s goal was unassisted.
In the second half, the Phoenix defense battened down the hatches, allowing just two shots from the Leathernecks’ attack. Junior goalkeeper Drew Swancutt made his second straight start in goal for GB and completed his second straight shutout. Swancutt finished the day with five saves.

- WIU outshot GB 11-8 and 5-4 in shots on goal
- Four yellow cards were given out in the match, with three going to Green Bay players.
- 28 fouls were committed between the two teams.
- The last time GB had back-to-back shutout wins was early in the 2023 season. Those two games were also against Western Illinois and Southern Indiana.
