MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Inclement weather is forcing the cancellation of the SS Badger’s trips across Lake Michigan Friday.
The popular car ferry was scheduled to depart Ludington, Michigan at 9 a.m. and depart Manitowoc at 2 p.m.
Officials say the decision was a difficult one, but it’s what’s best for the safety and comfort of passengers and crew members. The marine weather forecast is predicting gale force winds with waves building from 12-16 feet and occasionally to 21 feet.
“LMC understands the disappointment and inconvenience this decision causes and apologizes for the impact it has on travel plans. While we are always committed to delivering an exceptional and comfortable cross-lake travel experience, lake conditions will make it impossible to do so in this instance,” a statement reads.
Our customer service and reservation team are ready to offer alternatives designed to ensure your satisfaction and minimize this disruption to your travel plans.
