OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The public will get its first chance to see the inside of the former Oshkosh Northwestern building when Truffle Pig, an Italian restaurant, opens this weekend.
The restaurant, which occupies a portion of the building, is scheduled to open at 4 p.m. Sunday.
The repurposed building includes a main dining area, seating about 150 people. Two smaller private dining areas can seat about 15 people each.
The Oshkosh Northwestern built its headquarters at 224 State St. in 1930. The building was later sold to Michigan-based ProVisions. Oshkosh native and billionaire T.J. Rodgers purchased the building in 2021, which is now managed by Team SNW.
The building is not the only former newspaper home in Northeast Wisconsin that has been put to new use. The former Post-Crescent building in Appleton is now Crescent Lofts, a 34-unit apartment complex. The old Green Bay Press-Gazette building, now owned by the city, is empty, with plans to convert it into offices for the police department.
